Close Protection Officer
In 2000 Douglas joined the Royal Dragoon Guards. During his time with the Royal Dragoon Guards, he was deployed three times, twice to Iraq and once on a UN tour to Cyprus. The regiment also travelled to Oman, Canada, Germany, Poland. Douglas also took a ground sign awareness instructors course in Brunei working under special forces.
Douglas spent a number of years after leaving the army, working in maritime security. Work involved crew and team briefs and training, which included weapon handling and first aid.
Other tasks were securing vessels against piracy. Places visited include Sri Lanka, South Africa, Somalia, Kenya, India, Mauritius and Nigeria.
Douglas is not long back from working in Iraq at Q West camp in Mosul last year, where he spent a year working alongside the American Forces on a DOD contract. He has experience also, working in security
within the UK, with the MPGS in RAF St Athan with the SFSG on a class one security base.
